About

Pınar Aytuğ Türkmen is a Turkish artist living in Dubai. Her journey began in a remarkably unconventional way when one day her young son asked her to draw a portrait for him. Picking up a drawing pencil for the first time since her high school years, Pınar surprised herself with the result. This accidental discovery reawakened a hidden talent and an underlying passion. Taking a courageous leap toward becoming a professional artist, she soon solidified her newfound path through the Mastery Program at the Milan Art Institute.

Holding a Master’s degree in Literature and having dedicated more than fifteen years to a professional career as an educator, Pınar brings a strong connection to storytelling, language, and cultural history into her artistic practice. Her paintings reflect an ongoing dialogue between literature and visual art.

Pınar’s practice is an intimate exploration of emotion, memory, and the inner life of individuals. She views every element on her canvas as a living character carrying an emotional truth. Deeply inspired by Vincent van Gogh, her work centers on his concept of "active melancholy," where quiet reflection connects to inner strength and transformation. While her practice focuses primarily on the rich tradition of oil painting, she embraces a dynamic approach that incorporates diverse mediums and techniques. Through intense contrasts, light, and shadow, she alternates between deep, monochromatic backgrounds and vibrant fields of color to build deliberate psychological landscapes. She invites the viewer to look beyond the immediate aesthetic of the form and reflect on resilience, identity, and the complexity of human experience, creating works that encourage contemplation rather than offer definitive answers.

Pınar is currently developing new bodies of work for her upcoming exhibitions and projects. She aims to align her artistic journey with her lifelong passion for education by initiating art workshops to foster creative community engagement.
